ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR AMINA LAWAN MUSTAPHA

Associate Professor Amina Lawan Mustapha is an accomplished Agricultural Economist with over two decades of teaching, research, and community engagement at Bayero University Kano. She holds both MSc and PhD degrees in Agricultural Economics and has developed extensive expertise in impact assessment, socio-economic research, gender analysis, and livelihood studies, particularly within Nigeria and the wider Sudano-Sahel region.

Her research interests span agribusiness management, production economics, value chain analysis, and participatory research methodologies. She is particularly recognized for her strong commitment to advancing inclusive agricultural development, with a focus on empowering women and youth. Through rigorous field-based research and stakeholder engagement, she has contributed to designing and implementing interventions that enhance access to agricultural resources, training, finance, and leadership opportunities for marginalized groups.

Professor Mustapha has authored over 40 scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and technical reports. She has played key roles in survey design, data collection, statistical analysis, report writing, and dissemination of findings across multiple national and regional projects. Her work consistently integrates gender-responsive approaches, examining how gender roles influence farming practices, crop choices, labor allocation, and decision-making dynamics within households and rural communities.

Beyond academia, she has experience in agribusiness management at both individual and institutional levels, strengthening her practical understanding of agricultural markets and enterprise development. She is a strong advocate for evidence-based policies that promote gender equity, youth participation, and sustainable rural livelihoods.

Through research, mentorship, and policy engagement, Associate Professor Amina Lawan Mustapha continues to contribute significantly to inclusive agricultural transformation and socio-economic development in Northern Nigeria and beyond.
